This piece was written at a time when patient engagement, mobile health, and meaningful use were often discussed as separate tracks. I thought that was the wrong frame even then.

The more interesting view was that they were converging. Mobile interfaces were becoming one of the most practical ways to make patient engagement real, and the policy and incentive structures around meaningful use were only going to make that convergence more relevant.
